BRX
A new market for a traditional brand
- Client
- Briggs & Riley
- Year
- 2009
- Role
- Industrial Design Engineer
In response to the lingering effects of the 2008 recession, particularly within the travel industry, Briggs & Riley set out to reach a customer it had never spoken to before. BRX was the answer: an outdoor-minded collection that carried the brand's engineering standards into a completely new market segment.

Patented Trolley System
The patented Trolley System, which I had the privilege of pioneering alongside our dedicated team and valued suppliers, moved the handle mechanism outside the bag — recovering packing volume without compromising strength.

New colorways
For the BRX collection, we ventured beyond the conventional business color palette of our classic range, embracing tones that belonged outdoors rather than in an airport lounge.

In the wild

Project summary
Reflecting on this project, I believe we excelled — especially given that it took us beyond our usual comfort zone. BRX opened a segment the brand had never served, and the trolley system it introduced went on to shape later collections.
